L’Oréal Professionel Hair Contouring Seminars by Caterina Di Biase

Inspired by, arguably, one of the most coveted makeup trends in the beauty industry, hair contouring is finally here and it is about to change your hair game forever.

Unlike the massive number of hair trends taking over major social media arenas like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, hair contouring is up another level. More than a hair trend, it is a hair category leader on its own right. It is simpler and more practical than trying to contour with makeup ala Kim Kardashian.

What is Hair Contouring?

According to L’Oréal Professionel, “hair contouring is a colouring technique that uses a combination of free hand application and highlighting paired with the careful positioning of different tones and depths around the face to highlight and shadow targeted areas.”

Sounds like a balayage, you say? Well, not quite but close. Let’s just say that hair contouring is the balayage’s long-lost mother. Simply put, hair contouring is achieved through freehand colouring while taking into consideration the areas of the face that need to be emphasized using various tones. For instance, a concentration of highlights can be placed strategically around the cheek areas to give them a lifted effect or look the way a regular highlighting product would.

Our creative hair director and L’Oreal Professionnel’s Australian Ambassador since 2008, Caterina Di Biase, will travel across the country and abroad to provide hair contouring seminars and training to selected hair colourists. Below are the seminar schedules for reference.
